MxToolbox Pricing and Delivery Center Cost Compared
· 7 min read
Checks run by DNS only. Nothing is sent from or to your domain.
MxToolbox pricing has three public tiers in 2026: a free plan with weekly blacklist monitoring for one domain, Delivery Center at $129 a month for 5 domains, and Delivery Center Plus at $399 a month for 5 domains with a higher message allowance. Managed services are quoted on request. That works out to about $26 per domain per month on the entry plan and $80 per domain on Plus, which is the number to compare when you look at alternatives.
We make a competing product, so we kept this page to what MxToolbox publishes on its own pricing page and did the math in the open. Prices change, so confirm the current numbers on mxtoolbox.com before you buy. If you already know you want to compare the two side by side, the MxToolbox alternative page has the full feature table.
MxToolbox plans and prices at a glance
| Plan | Price per month | Domains | Message volume | Inbox placement tests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 | Not listed | Not included |
| Delivery Center | $129 | 5 | 500,000 | 30 a month |
| Delivery Center Plus | $399 | 5 | 5,000,000 | 100 a month |
| Managed services | On request | On request | On request | On request |
Both paid plans include recipient complaint reporting, DMARC delivery performance reports, SPF, DKIM and DMARC configuration analysis, adaptive sender blacklist monitoring, inbound and outbound mailflow monitoring, BIMI management and domain impersonation protection. Plus adds advanced delivery threat tools and SPF flattening on top.
How much does MxToolbox cost?
MxToolbox costs $0 for the free plan, $129 a month for Delivery Center and $399 a month for Delivery Center Plus, according to its public pricing page. Both paid tiers cover 5 domains. The difference between them is message volume (500,000 against 5,000,000), inbox placement tests (30 against 100) and the extra threat and SPF flattening tools on Plus.
So the jump from $129 to $399 does not buy you more domains. It buys volume and tooling. That matters if your problem is "we send a lot from a few domains", and it does not help if your problem is "we send from 40 domains".
Is MxToolbox free?
Partly. The one-off lookup tools on the MxToolbox site, such as the blacklist check, MX lookup and SPF lookup, are free to use. The free account adds weekly blacklist monitoring for a single domain. Anything continuous beyond that, including DMARC reports, mailflow monitoring and placement tests, sits on the paid Delivery Center plans.
Weekly monitoring is the catch for anyone sending every day. A listing on Spamhaus or Barracuda that appears on a Tuesday can sit there until the next weekly run, and by then several days of campaigns or sales emails have gone to spam or bounced.
What MxToolbox costs per domain
The cleanest way to compare monitoring tools is cost per monitored domain, because that is the number that grows as your business grows. Here is what the public prices work out to:
- Delivery Center: $129 for 5 domains, about $25.80 per domain per month.
- Delivery Center Plus: $399 for 5 domains, about $79.80 per domain per month.
- BlacklistMonitoring Starter: $49 for 10 domains and IPs, about $4.90 per asset per month, or $24 a month billed yearly.
- BlacklistMonitoring Business: $149 for 100 domains and IPs, about $1.49 per asset per month.
- BlacklistMonitoring Agency: $499 for 500 domains and IPs with client workspaces and white label reports, about $1 per asset.
The two products are not identical, so per-domain cost is not the whole story. MxToolbox bundles mailflow monitoring, complaint reporting and SPF flattening that we do not offer. We focus on blacklist, DNS record and DMARC monitoring with frequent checks and alerts that include the fix. If the jobs you pay for are the ones we cover, the per-domain gap is large. Our pricing page lists every limit per plan.
Which MxToolbox plan do you need?
It depends on how many domains you send from and what you need to see.
One company domain, low volume
If you send from a single Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 domain, a few hundred messages a day, the free account plus the free lookup tools may be enough. Add a calendar reminder to look at the DMARC record now and then and you are covered for basics.
A handful of domains, heavy sending
A retailer or SaaS company sending millions of messages from two or three domains is the customer Delivery Center Plus is built for. The 5,000,000 message allowance, SPF flattening and mailflow monitoring are useful at that size, and the 5 domain cap is not a problem.
Many domains, agencies and cold email teams
This is where MxToolbox gets expensive. A cold email agency with 15 clients and three secondary domains each is watching 45 domains, far past the 5 domain cap of either Delivery Center plan, which leaves a custom managed services quote as the only published route. The same 45 domains fit inside our Business plan at $149 a month, checked every 15 minutes, or the Agency plan at $499 with separate client workspaces and branded reports. The cold email agency setup shows how those teams organize rotating domains.
What else to budget for besides the subscription
Deliverability monitoring is usually one line in a small stack. Most teams budget for three things.
- A monitoring tool for blacklists, DNS records and DMARC reports. That is the line this article is about.
- A sending platform or cold email tool that handles warmup and throttling. Some of these protect reputation on their own, such as cold email software that writes personalized sequences and watches deliverability per mailbox.
- Time to fix problems. An alert is only worth something if someone acts on it within hours. Alerts that name the list, the reason and the removal link cut that time sharply. Our guide on how to get off an email blacklist covers the steps.
Does MxToolbox offer an annual discount or an API plan?
The public pricing page lists monthly prices and does not spell out an annual discount or a separate API price, so ask MxToolbox sales if either matters to you. People search for "MxToolbox API pricing" often enough that it is worth asking directly before you build anything on it. On our side, yearly billing cuts every plan in half, and the REST API is part of the Scale plan along with CIDR range monitoring, SSO and an audit log.
Questions to ask before you sign up for any monitoring plan
Price per domain is the headline, but a few details decide whether a plan actually protects your sending. Ask these of MxToolbox, of us and of any other vendor on your shortlist.
How often is each domain and IP checked?
Check frequency is the gap between a listing appearing and you hearing about it. Weekly is fine for a domain that sends a newsletter once a month. It is far too slow for a sales team sending 2,000 cold emails a day, where one Spamhaus listing can quietly sink a whole week of pipeline. Our plans check every 60, 15 or 5 minutes, depending on the tier.
Do IPs and domains count separately?
Some tools count a domain and each of its mail server IPs as separate items, others bundle them. Count your real footprint first: every sending domain, every secondary cold email domain, every dedicated IP from your email platform and any transactional subdomain such as mail.yourcompany.com. Then check how each vendor counts it.
What does an alert actually tell you?
An alert that says "listed" sends someone off to research. An alert that names the list, the return code, the most likely cause and the removal page saves that hour. Ask for a sample alert before you buy.
Can clients or colleagues see their own results?
Agencies need separate client workspaces and reports they can send under their own brand. In-house teams need several users and alerts routed to Slack or Microsoft Teams rather than one shared inbox. Both affect which plan you really need, so they belong in the cost comparison.
When paying for MxToolbox makes sense
We would rather you pick the right tool than the one we sell. MxToolbox is the better buy when:
- you need inbound and outbound mailflow monitoring, not only reputation monitoring,
- you want SPF flattening managed for you because your SPF record has too many lookups,
- your IT team already uses its free tools daily and wants everything in one familiar place,
- you would like a managed delivery service where someone else runs the project.
BlacklistMonitoring is the better buy when:
- you send from more than five domains or dedicated IPs,
- you need listings caught within minutes, not within a week,
- you want alerts in Slack, Microsoft Teams or a webhook with the fix included,
- you report deliverability to clients and need white label reports.
The comparison of the best email deliverability tools covers GlockApps, EmailGuard, EasyDMARC and Validity too, if neither option fits.
How to check the real cost before you commit
Run a free check on your main sending domain with the tool at the top of this page. It tests the domain and its mail server IPs on 109 blacklists and reads your SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. Then count every domain and IP you actually send from, including secondary cold email domains, transactional subdomains and any dedicated IPs from your email platform. Multiply by the per-domain cost above. For most teams with more than five sending domains, that one calculation settles the decision in a few minutes.
When you are ready, turn on blacklist monitoring for the full list and get an alert the moment any of them is listed.
